The opening date of the 2011 Australian Leadership
Awards Scholarship round will be anounced in the local media. Online
and hardcopy application forms will be made available during this
time.
Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) is an
initiative for the Asia Pacific region that focuses on developing
leaders who can influence social and economic policy reform and
development outcomes. ALA provides scholarships for post-graduate
studies in Australia and for short-term fellowship opportunities in
specialised research study or for professional attachments through
participating Australian organisations. Australian Leadership Awards
(ALA) is a new award under which the Australian Government offers
scholarships and fellowships for current and future leaders from the
Asia-Pacific Region.
Australian
Leadership Awards are awarded to people who are already leaders or
have a potential to assume leadership roles that can influence
social and economic policy reform and development outcomes, both in
their own countries and in the Asia and Pacific region. The
Awards provide scholarships for longer-term post-graduate study at
masters or doctoral level and fellowships for short-term research,
study or professional attachments. Managed by AusAID as part of
Australia's overseas aid program, Australian Leadership Awards are
open only to citizens of countries in the region that are eligible
for Official Development Assistance (ODA).
Awards will be
available to present and future leaders and personnel in corporate,
academic, non-government and government services. Specific
objectives include fostering enduring people-to-people links and
building capacity in developing countries.
In 2011, study
programs must relate to AusAID's priority
areas of disability, economic growth, education, environment,
food security, gender, governance, health, human rights,
infrastructure, regional stability, rural development and water
& sanitation. Scholarships are not available for military
training, or training in areas related to nuclear technology and
flying an aircraft.
