Australian Development Scholarships
Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) contribute
to the long-term development needs of Australia's partner countries
to promote good governance, economic growth and human development.
ADS provides people with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive
change and influence the development outcomes of their own country,
through obtaining tertiary qualifications at participating
Australian institutions. Australian Development Scholarships aim to
contribute to long-term development needs of Australia's partner
countries to promote good governance, economic growth and human
development. ADS holders are therefore required to return to their
country of citizenship for a minimum period of two years following
the completion of their scholarship to contribute to the development
of their country. Under AusAID's gender/equity policy, ADS awards
are allocated equally between men and women.
Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) are made
available through the Papua New Guinea Targeted Training Facility
(PATTAF) on behalf of the Australian Agency for International
Development (AusAID).
In support of the Government of PNG’s development
priorities, the Australian Government provides a limited number of
scholarships to allow students from PNG to study in Australia.
Awardees are selected on the basis of the Government of PNG’s
development priorities and merit using a two-stage transparent
process that involves the National Training Council, the Department
of Personnel Management, the Department of National Planning and
Monitoring, AusAID and PATTAF.
PNG citizens who meet the selection criteria and are
eligible to apply under the Open Category are invited to submit an
Expression of Interest Form. These forms will be made available
through the National Training Council or PATTAF each year in
January. Please ring, fax or email to secure a form. Closing date is
late March.
